Charles Glover began his career as a general assignment reporter for the Dayton Journal Herald, a Cox newspaper. He ascended through the ranks of Cox Newspapers throughout his career, and ultimately became president of Cox Enterprises. When the public and private entities of Cox merged in 1985, Glover served as president of the Newspaper Division until he was named editor-in-chief of Cox Newspapers in 1986. He retired from Cox Newspapers in 1989.

A World War II veteran, Glover is the author of the book, Journey through the Years: The Story of Cox Enterprises , and the weekly New York Times syndicated World War II Series, published in 600 newspapers worldwide from 1991 to 1995.
